The Building Industry Institute (BII) is a non-profit 501-c-3 affiliated with the Maryland-National Capital Building Industry Association - its goal is to encourage and assist MNCBIA members in identifying continuing education opportunities in their career or profession. Some of these opportunities are offered by the MNCBIA or affiliated organizations in the Washington DC region such as the Washington Metropolitan Sales & Marketing Council(WMSMC), the Home Builders Institute(HBI), or the Urban Land Institute(ULI). Some educational programs are available through area colleges or universities such as Montgomery College, the University of Maryland, or George Mason University. Other educational opportunities are available on-line.

Safety on the Job Site
Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) Training and Education is directed at reducing the incidence of occupational illness and injury on residential sites through education. Participants can enroll in half-day and full-day training seminars at no cost, as well as earn college continuing education units (CEUs). Available seminars include Accident Investigation; MOSH Inspections; Construction Site Safety; Construction Site Safety-Fall Protection; Construction Site Safety-Scaffolding; Excavation Safety; Excavation Equipment Safety; Hand and Power Tool Safety; Job Safety Analysis; Making your Work Zone Safer; and many more. All these free seminars provide an overview of the specific topic and how to comply with applicable OSHA/MOSH standards. Attendance at these sessions does not substitute for training required by OSHA/MOSH standards.
